Hello World.

I’m Clark.

All my life retirement has felt like this incomprehensible and far distant event that was going to happen to me “one day”. It was a word I intellectually understood without having any emotional connection to its eventual supposed reality.

As I’ve gotten older, this nebulous concept has slowly taken shape – the edges becoming more defined as time passes, much as the shadow of a person becomes slowly discernable in the fog as it draws closer to you. And, much like that unknown figure slowly approaching in the fog, retirement has also seemed scary and exciting at the same time.

What is the Retirement Creed?

What is a creed?

Creed /krēd/ a set of beliefs or aims which guide someone’s actions.

My wife and I have been preparing for retirement for all of our working life. During that time, we’ve met some interesting people, learned some valuable lessons, gotten burned along the way, and subsequently recovered. Throughout this journey, I’ve gathered some important nuggets of truth I wished someone else had shared with us.

So, I’m sharing these nuggets of knowledge with you, my fellow Creedians.

What’s Ahead of Us?

This website will likely have the same effect on the world as me standing in the backyard and yelling at the clouds. Yet, for some unknown reason, I feel compelled to start it, to share the knowledge we’ve found and the journey we’re on.

Based on my current plans, I have between 8 and ten years ahead of me before retirement.  I’ll share our strategies, objectives, and philosophies (I call them axioms and principles) along with some humor and advice.  I’m a cybersecurity professional with over 25 years of experience under my belt, so expect some detours into this realm as well.

You don’t know me (yet), and since you’re reading this (which makes you an honorary Creedian), I don’t know much about you yet either. Not to worry – we’ll learn about each other as our journey progresses together.

Let’s do this.
